WOMEN’S RIGHT: A NESSECITY

What for ages has been whispering, knowing, silencing in secrets of institutions, on work places, in families, in couples… has brutally exploded with the media wave who has seized a new item, rape and sexual assaults accusations against the American producer Harvey Weinstein, and this wave has freed women’s speech. It was necessary: women’s right are now a priority.

WOMEN’S RIGHT: A PRIORITY

To account for it and make a difference in this huge project of women’s right, Le Crayon, defend and illustration of freedom of liberty of expression association, a partnership with the press designers francophone France-Cartoons association and the International Press Drawing of “Estaque”, has chosen its tools, caricature, press drawings, humour because we know the image evocation power, the laugh force and impertinence.

largeWOMEN’S RIGHT: AN INTERNATIONAL CAUSE

The big signature of international, national and regional press to designers who invade the Internet, has all respond to our call by sending a drawing of them choice. Are also presents, send by them family, the works of “Honoré”, disappeared in the Charlie Hebdo’s attack in January 2015, but also of Blachon, Bosc, Chimulus, Loup, Mix and Remix and Siné, the eternal rabid.

We pay tribute to them and everybody that work in laughter and humour, with courage to denounce injustices that are done to them at the risk of their freedom and sometimes their lives!

You will find the list further, and the list of the godmother’s project, cartoonists and press drawers who has immediately respond to our call and make our demand shine.

We exposed women’s right as they are apprehended in the world by the press and social networks artists.

Their humoristic drawings or cartoons raise the fundamental issues that women face: discrimination at work, school, inequality of salary, absence of voting right, mutilation, degrading treatment, limited contraception, abortion forbidden or threatened with prohibition, sexual assaults, rapes… all of those themes are in the exposition.

The exhibition is constituted of 27 Tissue kakemonos of 1 meters wide over 2 meters high, each focusing on a theme: vote right, education right, abortion right, discrimination at work, sexual assaults…

Each kakemono presents 6 drawings and a citation of the kakemono’s theme.

The exhibition is accompanied of a looped slideshow that present a drawing of all participating draughting artists.
